SPECIAL NOTE
The regular Sunday night Slinger program
moves up earlier in the day since it is after Labour Day and will
run after the Lions Club Program
Friday August 27 Columbus 151
Speedway
DIck Moore Memorial Race Night
It was a perfect night for racing once again
and 9 drivers took to the low banks of Columbus for the open wheel
challenge on Dick Moore Memorial Race Night. The number 4 of Kyle Lynn
was quickest on his first lap out and he could not improve on his time
on his remaining 2 laps. This will be a factor late on in the evening.
Justin (just in time) Lindeman was late to the track but was able to get
3 laps in at the end of late model qualifying. Pretty good times with
little time to set the car up.
The Mini Mods qualifying was a battle royale
as the 2th of Ken Johnson was finally able to beat the 97 of Jerry
Guiliano who has been able to beat 2th for the past few races
Rascal/FIRA
4 Kyle Lynn 13.248
38 Vern Brown 13.384
17 Tim Roach 13.625
07 Justin Lindeman 13.842
Mini Mods
2th Ken Johson 14.401
97 Jerry Guiliano 14.480
5 Barry Trusky 14.656
18 Jason Bies 15.258
7 John Demay 15.688
Running combined heats and features the cars
lined up inverted within each group. The 07 of Lindeman was on the pole
and led them to the green Side by side with the 17 of Roach they dueled
wheel to wheel for the first 2 laps until Roach took advantage of a
push and dove down to take the lead. With Mirrors full of yellow to the
inside and blue to the outside, Lynn and Brown fought it out as Roach
ran the low groove leaving the slick high side for all challenges. There
were none as Lynn seemed to slow as the race progressed and Brown's
tires went away and he got loose.
The Mini Mods race was even tighter as
Johnson, Guiliano and Trusky fought for the checker. Tight racing for
the complete race but it was Guiliano who was first to the line.
Final results were Roach, Lynn, Brown,
Lindeman, Guiliano, Johnson, Trusky, Demay and Bies
The 15 lap feature was an invert of the heat
results for both divisions. The 07 of Justin time Lindeman paced the
field slow hoping to use the torque of the 600cc snowmobile motor to get
the jump on the motorcycles powered cars of Roach and Brown. Out of turn
4 Justin led the field as planned. Lynn Brown and Roach all raced hard
just feet behind the frontrunner Lindeman. Brown's tire problem and lack
of rear grip were still an issue and Roach took advantage out of two to
make the pass. Lynn had already overtaken the 07 and Roach had to take
his time to make a clean pass. The chase was on. Lynn was fast but as
noted earlier, it seemed as if the tires went away or the motor laid
down a bit as the laps clicked off. With almost a half a straight lead,
Roach had Lynn in his crosshairs. The youth of Lynn showed as he
struggled to overtake lap traffic and the lead evaporated. Roach showed
patience as the two closed in on a lap car. Lynn run up fast with
nowhere to go as Roach drove in deep and high to pass on the unpassable
high side. Once out front there was only a lap and a half until the
checker and there were no challenges
The Mini Mod finish was spectacular as well
once again with the 2th edging out the 97 and the 5 cars. Ken Johnson
was finally able to unseat the the 97 of Giliano. I wish I could have
seen more of the race between Ken Jerry and Barry but from speaking to
fans in the stands, it was quite a show.
Feature finish was Roach. Lynn, Brown,
Lindeman, Johnson, Guiliano, Trusky, Bies and Demay
It was an honor to have my picture taken in
the winners circle with Mrs Moore on Dick Moore night but also with one
of the best racers on the track in Ken Johnson.
Vern Brown's tire issues were unusual for
the front running downtown Vern Brown
Track security was called to the pits as it
seemed everyone wanted to shake my hand or get an autograph I think.
That really wasn't necessary.
September 12 at Slinger is next
Gates open at 9AM
YES THAT IS RIGHT
9AM with racing at noon for the lions club and then I think the regular
program after that
Tim
Once again the work things get in the way of racing so I apologize for the
delay in the report. Only 15 years to retirement and I can race full
time!!!!!!!!
I know it is hard to get away to race on a Wednesday but for those that want
to know, Jefferson is a blast to run. Two different corners had the drivers
running different lines and different set ups.
This night, Jerry Guiliano and Vern Brown had it right
Vern Brown had a fast lap that would put him close to the front of the late
model field and with more track time I am sure he would be able to eclipse
that mark.
On the Mini Mod side, the always fast Ken Johnson was timed at 15.558
seconds which put him ahead of some of the Indy cars. That is some
incredible speed for the small cars.
The Dash for the Mini Mods was close and tight racing and you could throw a
blanket over the four cars.
Lindeman and Demay ran side by side for the first few laps and Guiliano and
Johnson wisely waited for an opportunity to pass rather than going three
wide.
The door was opened when Justin pushed a bit and it was all that Jerry in
the 97 needed to get by.
The 2th car might have caught him but the dash was over before he could
mount the charge.
In the combined heat and feature, it was Brown and Guiliano once again up
front.
Brown taking both with Roach coming up short. The 17 made some changes for
the feature but was only able to hang side by side with Brown who eventually
pulled away to take the checker by a half straight.
Jerry was the class of the field all night although I believe the 2th was
encountering some fuel issues which may have hurt his chances of challenging
the 97
The winners circle was visited by Brown in the heat and Guiliano in the
feature adding some confusion to the officials who may not have been aware
of our two division format.
Just another great night of racing

FUNDAY SUNDAY
It was another great day for racing and the
weather was a typical mid summer day, hot and humid. Unlike the normal
night racing we are all used to, the Sunday Lions Club race was an
afternoon show. The track was hot and slick and 9 drivers took to the
1/4 mile Columbus track.
Practice was first up and the drivers took
to the track to shake down their cars. As practice was almost over the
17 of Roach suffered a lower heim failure on the right front pulling the
car into the wall of the front straight leaving a blackmark all the way
to turn one.
As the 17 was dropped off in the pits the
work started to repair the damage and hopefully make the show. I want to
thank everyone who pitched in, Vern Brown Dennis Lyne and Mike McNulty
especially.
Qualifying was starting and the 17 was last
to take laps but at least it held together.
Qualifying results
Kyle Lyne #4 13.370
Vern Brown #38 13.374
Jason Dull #07 13.558
Tim Roach #117 14.047
Kai McNulty #14 14.317
Min mod fast time was set by Ken Johnson in the 2th at 14.313 An
incredible lap!!!!!
My apologies for not getting the rest of the times but I was busy
fixing the car. I believe it was 2th followed by Guiliano, Trusky
and Demay
The Rascal Outlaws had an extra bit of track time with a 6 lap Dash
Coming to the green the 17 of Roach was quickest to the gas and got
the jump on Kai McNulty who was out for his first race of the
season. The racing was close in the sprint but unbelievably it was
Roach in the 17 taking the green. A car that was in doubt of making
the show and who's driver wanted to load up and go home. Thanks
again to all that helped.
The field finished as Roach, Brown, Dull, McNulty and Lyne
In the Mini Mod heat it was hot and slick and John Demay showed the
group the quick way around the tight Columbus track. On pole, John
held his line low and callenged everyone to pass on the outside
groove. Nobody could hold the high line in the heat and as the raced
for second place, Demay drove off and claimed victory in the heat.
Demay was followed by Trusky Guiliano and Johnson.
The Rascal heat was up next and from my starting position at tail it
was incredible to watch the 38 of Brown and the 4 of Lyne duke it
out. Also in the mix was the 07 of Jason Dull who was in the car for
only his second time yet was up front racing for the lead. The 14 of
McNulty hadn't lost any speed even though he has raced a limited
schedule and he raced with Roach side by side. In the end, it was
the 38 of Brown taking the checker followed by Lyne Dull Roach and
McNulty.
The feature is normally a combined event but was run as separate
events for each division. The Mini Mod feature was a close race with
side by side racing and the night was all Trusky. Demay, Johnson and
Guiliano tried but the could not catch the the always impeccable
Blue Mini Mod. My apologies but as the Mini Mods were going to the
finish, my view from the staging lane was blocked and I missed the
finish but I believe it was Guiliano followed by Johnson and Demay.
The Rascal feature was next up with a brief delay due to the 07 of
Dull having a quick release steering wheel fitting failure. It was
probably best to find the failure as we lined up rather than going
into one and having the wheel come off. With McNulty on the pole
again, he was not about to let Roach beat him to the green again.
Maintaining a very slow pace, it was an exciting start as they went
3 wide through one and two. McNulty pushed up a bit in 2 and opened
the door to Brown on the low side. Brown was the class of the field
this night and it left Roach and Lyne fighting for the runner up
position. The extra laps to get the Dull ride off track may have
hurt the 4 car as heat slows the sled motors and the fuel injected
bike motor in the Roach ride was just getting warmed up. The 38 of
Brown seemed to slow in the final laps but it was not enough to
allow the field to catch the always fast and track record holder.
Thanks to all who came out and we will see you at Jefferson.
Also note the rain date for Slinger is September 12th

Partial story Time trial times to follow
An unbelievable night at Columbus
11 cars in the pits and ready to race on Friday July 23. The weather was
questionable but nobody could question the dedication this group of racers
has and they were rewarded with a night of no rain Friday is hard for many
as some in the group drive a long way just to race. The great people at
Columbus have always been great to work with and got everyone who was there
before the end of qualifying out on track and timed in. Even the late
arrivals were allowed on track after the timing system was removed just to
shake the cars down. Columbus is a great track.
With a large group of cars we were able to run separate heats for each
division.
As the 6 mini mods hit the track for their 8 lap heat, they lined up
inverted by time.
John Demay led the group to the line with Barry Trusky outside
The racing was close, close enough that Ken Johnson had some minor contact
and bent some sheet metal but that was not enough to keep him from moving to
the front
In a surprise drive move the seat of the number 1 was filled with Justin
Lindeman who also had his Rascal car in the pits
The 18 of Jason Bies and the 97 of Gerry Guiliano were in the thick of it
all night.
In the end it was the 2th of Ken Johnson taking the checkered flag
2th Johnson
5 Trusky
97 Guiliano
1 Lindeman
7 Demay
18 Bies
Up next was the 6 lap sprint for the Rascal cars. Tim Roach was to lead the
field but in an incredible ballsy move he chose the outside lane and
challenged everyone by giving them the fast low lane.. That sounds a lot
better than I screwed up and forgot where I was supposed to start. When the
green flew it was Roach to the lead for the first laps but soon an
overheating issue would force him off.
Vern Brown, Kyle Lynn, Jason Dull and Josh Felder put on an incredible show
for the fans with close exciting racing
Dull was inpressive jumping into the Lindeman car with no seat time and
finishing third. Jason is a former FIRA driver who has recently been racing
midgets but as tonight showed, if it has wheels, he will drive the heck out
of it.
The combined feature had each group inverted but still separated with the
Rascal cars out front followed by the Mini Mods. The starts of this division
are always exciting with the groups separating but with passing and close
racing everywhere. Out front it Roach on point but not for long. The
Kid Kyle Lynn was on a mission and was soon to pass. The moisture in 3 and 4
was always in play and made for some excitement as the cars tried to avoid
this area. As the 4, 38 and 17 raced hard lap trraffic brought the group
together again but the 4 was too fast tonight and would not relinquish the
lead. As Brown and Roach dueled contact was made out of 4 as Roach got into
the wet and started to come around. Brown had no where to go and the contact
sent Roach to the pits with major damage and Brown was slowed with alignment
issues.
The racing in the Mini Mods division was just as excititng with wheel to
wheel racing all over. My results show th 97 of Guiliano leading the group
at the checker but I apologize as I did not see it from the track. I am sure
Gerry and 2th put on the typical great lead and pleased the crowd
Special notes
Nobody works harder that Rob Pollock and Dennis Lynn in the pits helping out
other crews and working with the line up.
The whole Mini Mod group works just as hard helping each out whether it be
unloading or setting up the cars or even fine tuning the body work with a
sledge hammer.
Thanks to all who raced
See you at the Sunday Aug 1 Lions Club Race
I need confirmation on start times if anyone has it, please post
Video of the July 17, 2010 Dells Race is now on the site, check out the
video link above.
A hot and crazy night at the Dells Raceway
Park
Saturday was a great night to race but just
getting there was difficult for three of the drivers.
Mark Findley and Tim Roach both suffered
trailer tire failures just south of the Dells while the Ohio drivers
Dale Aikman and Mik Guiher (YES!!!! they drove 9 hours to compete with
some of Wisconsins fastest cars) had injector issues. Everyone was safe
and able to get to the track on time.
The Dells Raceway Park run a great program
and Saturday was no exception. Two Looonnggg practice sessions allowed
the drivers to make sure their rides were ready. The heat in the track
was incredible and the track was slick but you would never know it by
the qualifying times. Vern Brown led the field with an incredible 14.008
second lap, a tenth of a second quicker than the late models.
Time Trails
38 Vern Brown 14.008
4 Kyle Lynn 14.211
43 Mark Findley 14.361
17 Tim Roach 14.520
48 Josh Felder 15.533
88 Mike Guiher 16.270
3 Mike Findley 17.604
73 Dale Aikman no time
With the threat of rain the program was
going to move fast. A four car inversion had Roach on the pole for the 8
lap heat sprint, Rookies in staus only Mike Findley and Josh Felder fell
in behind the fast four. The Ohio invaders rounded out the field as we
went to the green. A couple of hot laps to scrub and heat tires (not
really needed since it was 95 degrees out) and we were ready. The 17 of
Roach strategically held back and as Findley eased up on the throttle,
Roach was quick to hammer it hard and the white log was off to a quick
start. The racing was tight and fast. Check out the race videos from the
Dells and from the incar camera of Findley on the Video page of this
site. You could throw an umbrella over the front four and they would
have appreciated the shade but it was race time. Brown Lynn and Findley
were wheel to whell and fighting hard for every inch. Brown was able to
work his way to the front and waged war with Roach for the lead. Side by
side the racing was incredible. Brown drove deeper and deeper into the
corner ans took the lead from Roach but the racing was still on. With
two laps remaining Brown under pressure from Roach went too deep and
pushed up into the corner leaving the door open. Side by side racing was
on again. The last lap had Roach and Brown side by side exiting 2 and
coming up on lap traffic. THREEEEEEEE WIDE into 3 and it was Roach out
front for the heat win.
Close racing was all over. Lynn and Findley
fought hard for third and fourth with Findley ahead by inches The
rookies of Mike Findley and Josh Felder ran great races as did Aikman
and Guiher maintaining lines and getting faster every lap
heat finish is Roach,
Brown, Findley Lynn, Felder, Findley, Aikman and Guiher
Up next in the feature showed how much the
Ohio invaders want to race. Battery issues had the team stumped but
ingenious thinking and hard work had them back on track. A tow vehicle
battery and a driver switch in the cars had them on track again.Up front
was an invert of the front four from the heat with Lynn and the older of
the Findley brothers (a lot older) on the front row. A fast start and
the race was on. Wheel to wheel action for the whole race. Brown was the
class of the field moving from his third starting position to the lead
and never looking back. Brown stretched the lead but the second third
and fourth positions were nose to tail. Felder and the young gun Findley
ran strong and fast. The smiles on their faces after the race showed
just how much fun this racing is. Aikman had a shocking finish as the
shade tree mechanic solution came up short with the batteryshorting to
the seat. More duct tape!!!!!!! Guiher was behind the wheel of the 88
mini spring and piloted the ride ride safely to the finish, first night
out in the car and it was impressive.
Check out the video on this and you will see
for yourself.
Feature finish was Brown,
Mark Findley, Lynn, Roach, Mike Findley, Felder. Guiher and Aikman
SPECIAL NOTE
Even with a bounty on his head in the form
of cold hard cash, Mark Findley silenced all the trash talkers as they
hid at home afraid of a whoopin. Mark was all action racing hard and
finishing up front.

A new winner at Slinger!!!
Mother nature made it to the winners circle Saturday at Slinger
Super Speedway beating out nine drivers who were ready to make a
challenge. After drying the track twice the third thunderstorm
rolled in and the track rolled over calling the race due to weather
and the inability to get a full program in. In the shadows of the
race haulers of Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Ross Kenseth and Rich
Bickle who were practicing for Nationals the next day, the Open
Wheel Outlaws waited for their chance to turn laps as fast as the
big names. The races may have beed cancelled but there was as much
laughing and lying as ever. Bench racing and beer was still fun.
Hope to see everyone out on Saturday July 17 at the Dells

June 22, 2010 - Delayed
report from Jefferson Speedway
My apologies for the delayed report but
I can't find the driver's name of the 42 former Jim Thiel car and I
wanted to make sure he was included.
Let me begin by saying those that did
not make it to the race missed an opportunity to race on the world
famous Jefferson Speedway, Wisconsin's Action Track. Having never
been on the track before, I had a blast! The track is wide, smooth
and fast. The 1/3 mile track has different banking and multiple
grooves and was well prepared and run by the management of this
great track. Now for the best part, a Wednesday night show and we
had the best car count of the year.
The program was running fast and there
was a lot of racing to take care of. Two long practice sessions
allowed the racers to shake down the cars and get familiar with the
track,
3 laps of time trials was exciting and
Dr. 2th Ken Johnson led the mini mods on the time sheet even though
it was his first night out, only about 1/2 second slower than fast
time qualifier Vern Brown. I did not have time to get all the time
trials as there was too much fun going on in the pits.
Here is what is great about this group,
everyone was helping everyone, Competitors working to get their
competitors faster.
Ken and Jerry Guilliano working to
get the fuel pressure issue solved. Everyone working to get the
throttle cable issue resolved on the Jason Bies car (yes you can
spin out on the warm up lap if it sticks) Ken Johnson putting the
Barry Trusky car on scales to set weight percentages and doing
whatever we could for evryone else.
Now back to the results. A fast dash for
the mini mods was exactly that. Jerry with his fuel pressure issue
solved smoked the field to take the dash.
The heat and feature netted the same
results with Vern Brown leading the outlaws and Jerry Guilliano up
front of the Mini Mods but there was racing all over the track. The
feature came to an exciting finish as the fast out law cars were
just coming up to lap the Minis and were four wide at the stripe.
A great night of racing, if you missed
it, you missed a great race
See everyone at Slinger.
TR
June 11, 2010 - History was
made on Friday night at Columbus Speedway when the combined open wheel
challenge of the Mini Mods, Rascal Outlaws and Formula Indy met for
their second race at the track that Vern Brown calls home.
The weather called for rain all day but
weathermen are like racecar drivers, they lie.
As the cars rolled out for practice Roach
was left high and dry in the pits changing a kinked chain but luck would
follow him all night. Just as they were about to roll on the track a
sudden rain shower drenched the track and the drivers except Roach.
After a short drying period and the
cancellation of practice(as expected) 3 lap time trails were a
challenge. Cold tires and dust from the pits made for slower than normal
times. Vern Brown paced the field at 13.433 seconds, a half second off
his track record.
38 Vern Brown 13.433
4 Kyle Lynn 13.619
17 Tim Roach 13.725
1 Scott Hastings 15.003 (fast
qualifier for Mini Mods)
7 John Demay 15.705
18 Jason Bies 16.292
21 Dennis Stitz 17.026
The Columbus track personnel did a great job
to move the program along so that the show would be complete and the
heat race was a sprint. Both groups lined up with a complete invert
except for rookie Stitz starting tail. Roach led the field to the green
but it was Kyle Lynn who won the drag race into one. As the field
sorted out, Lynn was able told hold off a charging Vern Brown who ran
out of laps to catch Kyle.
Scott Hastings continued his dominance in
the Mini Mod division taking the checkered flag just ahead of John Demay.
Heat finish was Lynn, Brown, Roach,
Hastings, Demay, Bies and Stitz.
The feature line up was invert again putting
Roach back on pole and he was determined not to be beaten by the "kid"
or the "old man". A slower pace to the green had Roach down a gear
looking for the hole shot out of turn 4. As luck would have it, the
green flew just as Brown's tires were rolling over the small wet area in
the high groove of 4. It was an amazing shot of luck as Roach exploded
out of 4 to take the lead which he would not relinquish. The choice of a
lower gear had the car working hard and bumping the rev limiter 3/4 of
the way down the straight. Giving up a bit of straightaway speed was
more than made up by the car rocketing out of the corner. Roach held the
low line and dared anyone to pass high. They tried but could not make it
work. Not on this night.
Vern Brown was able to catch Lynn and claim
second place. Kyle was determined to catch Roach and tried every line
but opened the door for Brown late in the race.
Scott Hastings had the brake rotor red hot
as he wheeled the Mini Mod around the slick Columbus low banks. Scott
swept the night in the Mini Mod division taking fast time, the heat win
and the feature. Great race Scott!!!!!
The feature finish was
17 Tim Roach
38 Vern Brown
4 Kyle Lynn
1 Scott Hastings
7 John Demay
18 Jason Bies
21 Dennis Stitz
Up next is the Lions Club race on Wednesday
June 16 at Jefferson Speedway.
Hope to see everyone there.
May 21, 2010 -
Opening day for the combined racing open
wheel challenge featuring the Rascal Outlaws, FIRA and the Mini Mods at
Columbus 151 speedway was a huge success. The night started off with hot
lap practice sessions and unfortunately Justin Lindemann detonated the
motor in his Mini Mod in spectacular fashion. A connecting rod failure
knocked a baseball size hole in the case. Justin's night was not over
though as he also had his Rascal Outlaw car and the team driver let
Justin jump back into that ride.
Time trials were tricky as cold tires and a
dusty track kept drivers from posting track record times but Vern Brown
was at the front with a 13.429 lap to lead all racers. Scott Hastings
led the Mini Mods with an impressive 14.821 lap.
Vern Brown 13.429
Kyle Lynn 13.600
Tim Roach 14.035
Justin Lindemann 14.808
Scott Hastings 14.821
Jason Bies 15.078
John Demay 15.608
The combined heat had the Rascal Outlaws and
FIRA cars out front followed by the Mini Mods. Two races within one
provided lots of action. On cold tires the drivers had to work the
throttle to maintain control and work their way through the field. Kyle
Lynn led the group followed by Vern Brown, Tim Roach and Justin
Lindemann. The was close racing in the Mini Mods group with Jason Bies
taking the win followed by Demay and Hastings.
The 15 lap feature was fast and furious. A
gear change in the pits had the 17 car of Roach screaming out of the
corner and hitting the rev limiter at the end of the straight. Engine
temps were north of 230 degrees but the car was flying. Roach led the
field for the first 10 laps and he was pulling away. Lap traffic proved
that racing sometimes involves contact. After passing Demay in the front
straight the dueling pair of Bies and Hastings were entering turn 1.
Both cars took the low line and the 17 moved high to make the pass. The
18 of Bies pushed up hard perhaps hitting some moisture and the 17 dove
low to make the pass but the 18 starting to spin came down and the right
rear of the 17 contacted to front wing of the 18. The 17 suffered chain
failure and was done as was the 18 with the damaged nose. Both drivers
were OK.
On the restart it was Brown and Lynn in a
hotly contested sprint to the finish. At the line it was Downtown Vern
Brown outpacing Kyle "the KID" Lynn. Rounding out the field it was
Hastings, Demay, Roach, Bies and Lindemann.
A great night of racing. Next up is Columbus
again on June 11.
See you there

April 27, 2010 - Race season is finally here and the
schedule is almost complete. The first race will be Friday May 21st which is
just 3 weeks away. I hope everyone is ready for another great year of
racing.
The Columbus race will be combined with the MINI MODS and run as we did last
year. If you need track time, keep in mind that Columbus runs practice
Wednesday nights and Rockford on Thursdays if you need to shake your car
down. If you know you will be at the race, drop me an e-mail so I can
plan for pit set up and to let the MINI's and the track know in advance on
what we should expect. Get to Columbus early as we always have lots of
practice time. Time trials were 3 laps but may change and the heat and
features are based on car count. CAR COUNT is critical. Lets get everyone
out early. If you need help or parts, let someone know so we can help.

want to both race and have fun. Welcome J C !!!!!
As we get closer to race season, the
schedule continues to firm up and I will post when dates are added.
If you are not going to race and want to
sell, please post to the web. I have had a number of calls about
people looking at getting into racing. Also consider putting someone
else in the seat or team drive and share costs.
It is all about car count and we want as
many cars out on track
Rockford has an open practice on April 3
from noon until 4pm. It is a perfect time
to get the car out and shake the bugs out so that we are ready to go
first night out.
